When I first came to the transitional house I am currently living in it didn’t take me long to relapse. I was in addiction bad! I was angry and miserable all the time…I never seemed to have a happy moment. I wanted to change but I just couldn’t do it on my own. The second time I relapsed, I was put on mandatory weekly counseling with Bobbi. Between counseling with her on Tuesday afternoons, attending bible study with her on Wednesday evenings and attending CR and Recovering LIFE for Ladies with her on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, I have learned that I can’t do this on my own and that I have to put it into God’s Hands. Since I gave my life and my addiction to God, I have not relapsed. I’m no longer angry, miserable, and stressed… now when things aren’t going very well for me, I lay my head down at night with peace knowing that God is in control and he is working all of this out to my good. I’m thankful to God for this new peace and I intend to continue to walk in it. It is such a blessing!”

“…my life was full of chaos, due to alcohol and my own selfish ways.  Bitterness from some trials of life had set in so deep that I blamed God and everyone else.  Instead of trying to change myself or ask for help and guidance, I just self-destructed in everything and in every way. As a result, I ended up in the hospital for 10 days with my body shutting down. I have no recollection of the first 4 days, but for the last 6 days all I remember doing is praying and asking God to please help me find my way back to Him, His Word and the peace of mind I had years prior. Shortly after this I began attending Recovering Life where I met Bobbi H. who touched something in me that opened a whole new way of spiritual guidance and teaching of God’s Word, His will and his unconditional love for me. With her wisdom, patience and love for God, she has shown me how to slowly, but determinedly change my way of thinking and the way I walk with the Lord. She showed me the difference between having religion and having a relationship with God.

I can only say, “Praise God,” for Recovering Life. Before I had come to this program. I had been trying to fight my alcoholism alone. I had isolated from family, friends, and the world. I was in such darkness the devil had me convinced my days on this earth, as we know it, were over. With the persistence of Bobbi Hookfin and the lessons of Recovering Life I realized, though I may not have been worthy of God’s grace in my deepest of sin, He still loved me so much that he died on the cross to make me worthy to spend all eternity with him… My life has changed a great deal.
